In a call with investors on Monday, Zuckerberg addressed the leaked documents but not their contents, saying the issues the company is facing “aren’t primarily about social media” but relating to “polarization started rising in the US before I was born”. “Facebook’s persistent actions to undermine content moderation are the latest evidence that Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook leadership will continue to sacrifice the safety of our communities to line their pockets,” the groups said in a statement. In light of the revelations, six leading racial justice groups including MPower Change, Kairos Action, 18 Million Rising, Media Justice, Action Center on Race and the Economy, and US Campaign for Palestinian Rights have called for Mark Zuckerberg to step down from his role as CEO. The latest documents have revealed the extent to which Facebook knew about the aggressive spread of misinformation and hate speech on its platform, that it was reluctant to censor rightwing news organizations for fear of angering the Trump administration, and how it struggled to crack down on human trafficking operations advertised on Instagram. Haugen testified on Monday in front of British MPs calling for external regulation of Facebook. But I got a call from another staffing company advertising for the same role that I was in, so I knew that it was time for my replacement.Facebook’s financial wins came amid intense scrutiny, after a consortium of news organizations published stories on Monday based on documents leaked by the whistleblower Frances Haugen. I honestly thought I was doing a great job because I manage to get pass 4 weeks. After working there I learn that the last person in my role only lasted 2 weeks and always get replaced if they don't like them. They have two people sitting a cubicle so space was limited. It was very stressful being in that type of environment and working with those individuals. The work load is just too much for just one person and the task is expected to be completed during business hours or after but your not compensated or paid overtime. It was definitely not a professional environment so I can see why no one would stay in this role. The people at that site were very rude, loud and petty. At the client site they were very hostile and disrespectful. When I got to the client site I pretty much was thrown in hell fire. So I didn't even know what to expect or who I would be working with and the culture. I was just hired and sent over to the client. I was never provided the necessary information about the role or even interviewed with the client before hand. I was hired to work for one of their clients. The general feeling is that they are working "alongside" you while also running the company.įig Leaf, as a company, is really good at acquiring work and making sure there is enough to keep employees occupied and prevent having to do layoffs etc. The owners have strong technical backgrounds and regularly help out employees who run into technical challenges. It's been a win-win relationship and it's rare to find a company that will help you pursue your own personal goals as they will. It's now been several years that I've been able to work on my business and get it off the ground while taking occasional contracting work via Fig Leaf. They worked with me to transition to working only part time so that I could pursue it. FIg Leaf worked with me to find another client that was a better fit, and I ended up becoming a very happy worker.Īfter working full time for a while, I mentioned to the owners of Fig Leaf that I had interest in ultimately starting my own business. The first client I worked with proved not to be a great fit for me.
